Manifolds for air fuel systems
We provide the ideal material for Air Inlet Manifolds (AIM) in the shape of the tough, strong, Akulon® polyamide 6. But that’s only half the story. We also offer in-depth application expertise including design optimization and Computer Aided Engineering; as well as expertise in Computational Fluid Dynamics for temperature profile predictions and identification of hot spots.
The DSM difference
Polyamide 6 is a perfect material for manifolds and DSM is one of the world’s leading suppliers, through the Akulon® family.
Through Akulon polyamide 6 we offer you improved burst pressure and laser weldable grades for more safety and flexibility in manifold design. High-flow grades like our Akulon Ultraflow can transform your manufacturing process through a potential 25% increase in molding productivity gains and improved surface finish. You can even switch to smaller molding machines.
For high peak temperature manifolds, polyamide 46 is another ideal thermoplastic. Our Stanyl® material offers better heat resistance than competing polyamides, all of which makes it a viable alternative to metal when temperatures exceed polyamide 6 and 66 capabilities…and it can still reduce costs by up to 10%.
When it comes to the most extreme heat, Akulon Diablo and Stanyl Diablo grades offer long-term heat resistance up to 3000h at 230°C. In particular they offer good weldability, and weld line strength, while maintaining strength after aging - which enables weight reduction and productivity gains through thin-wall designs.
You can even use Stanyl and Akulon together in plastic bi-material solutions to further drive down costs for high-temperature manifolds.
