Dual Mass Flywheels
The Dual Mass Flywheels (DMF) - otherwise known as the Mechanical Torsion Dampers (MTD) - play a key role in the transmission, helping to increase driver comfort by managing the rotation vibrations of the engine. Our strong Stanyl® polyamide 46 is increasingly being used for this demanding application.
Found between the engine and the transmission, the DMF needs to withstand a wide range of challenges to do its job of preventing noise, vibration and harshness and combating driver errors and mis-use.
Stanyl is proving to be the ideal material thanks to its proven ability to operate in the harshest conditions. Stanyl provides high strength and stiffness for prolonged periods at high temperatures – helping to extend the life of the DMF as well as improve its performance.
This unique material is also resistant to chemicals and oils and provides stable friction properties for vibration damping. With a wide portfolio of low friction and durable grades, we can tailor the very best materials to your precise system requirements.
