Flexibility is key for any CMO looking to meet the ever changing and evolving needs of a wide range of customers. DSM is no different, with huge capacity coupled with the ability to think and act fast.

The key to our flexible approach lies in our production and manufacturing facilities – which feature fermentation and downstream lines with huge capacity.

In fact we offer a magnificent 1,400 m3 of capacity, making our plant one of the largest of any CMO for food ingredients and nutraceuticals. We have 16 seed vessels and 28 main fermentors, ranging from 35 m3 to 100 m3 to allow for flexibility in production. This gives your product shorter lead-times and allows for spare capacity onsite.

Added to this we have seven multi-purpose downstream processing (DSP) systems with two entirely dedicated to food products. This prevents cross-contamination between lines and gives customers access to dedicated cost-effective food-grade facilities.

We offer unit operations to cover virtually all possible applications and capacity, with a dedicated food-standard area for active and non-active food ingredients – and we can adapt processes according to yield and required investment to ensure a more competitive target price.
