Working with DSM BioSolutions
The key to success is planning, continuity and openness. We work with customers in a unique way to make it happen.
Outsourcing to a CMO is a big step – which is why we work to make the transition as smooth and efficient as possible. We do this through:
People
From day one we assign a single project manager to customers for each phase of the development and manufacturing process. A dedicated manager will be responsible for your entire project and a team of scientists, technologists and process engineers selected on the basis of the expertise and experience they can bring to your project. Between them, our people have worked on the vast majority of strains, products and technologies.
Process
We break down our process into three stages before manufacturing: prospect, commercial proposal and project execution. Milestone meetings after each step and open communication with scientists and operatives throughout mean the program remains on track. For us, project management is about delivering the right product quality and process economics to agreed timescales and at the right price for you, whether you’re in the food, nutraceuticals, industrial or pharmaceutical sector.
Speed
We realize that speed is vital in bringing new APIs, active food ingredients and biotechnological products to market. We ensure rapid turnaround time for non-disclosure agreements. And our technical and commercial staff is promptly available for technical assessments and detailed discussions.
Attitude
We are a ‘can do’ company based on transparency and openness. Our emphasis on open innovation and sharing results guarantees fewer gaps and misunderstandings, more integration and better interface management.
A one-stop-shop
Our size and heritage in the industry is first class. Our DSM Biotechnology Center, for example, has a 450-strong team at customers’ disposal. This integrated approach saves customers time and money while eliminating the risks of mistakes and oversights associated with using multiple contractors.
Ethics
We will not take on projects that may overlap or conflict with anything being developed within the larger DSM organization. In fact, we’ll conduct an audit of current activities before signing any agreements. Even before we begin working together, we put a non-disclosure agreement in place to ensure the security of your intellectual property (IP) protection. Later, we add a collaboration agreement explicitly specifying and assigning IP ownership.
Security
Never to be underestimated, we give the project a codename and use it in all oral and written communication to ensure the anonymity of the customer, product and application. We have a strictly enforced clean desk policy at DSM BioSolutions to ensure that people don’t see more than they need; and there is rigorous security at all our facilities.
Finally, it goes without saying that we comply with all regulations in all markets were we operate.
