Powder coatings are currently being used for the exterior body intermediate coat (known as the “primer-surfacer”) and for the finishing of under-hood components.
The use of powder clear coatings is expanding as well, offering manufacturers an inspired alternative to solvent borne clear coats for applications such as coating alloy wheels. Parts exposed to corrosive conditions, such as the chassis and suspension of cars and motorbike frames, can now be treated with a powder coating formulation created with our corrosion protective resins. Hard-wearing components of trucks such as the chassis and bumper bars can also be power coated, while Powder In-Mould Coating is used for interior and remaining exterior components. Because every vehicle is the sum of its parts, DSM resins are widely used in powder coatings used where extra protection and a decorative finish are required.
