DSM Carbon Footprint study for industrial liquid and powder coatings
For many users have enjoyed the economic and technical benefits of powder coatings. Very early, it was intuitively understood that powder coatings were the coating system with the lowest carbon footprint. This was, however, never supported by a comprehensive analysis taking account of all elements involved in the coating process. DSM has undertaken this step in order to corroborate this prevailing opinion by conducting a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) study with focus on Powder Coatings.
DSM has investigated the carbon footprint of the production and application of various types of coating systems on metal. This report presents the results of its investigations for selected powder, solvent and water borne coatings.
We proudly present the Carbon Footprint industrial coatings study and outcomes on the carbon footprint left by the various industrial coating systems.
