Poly carbonates
Until recently, the use of polycarbonate resins has been limited to niche applications because of its cost structure.
DSM is now working on a breakthrough technology with Novomer, a pioneering sustainable chemistry company, to make polycarbonate more widely available through the development of sustainable polycarbonate platform technology. We’ve collaborated to create completely new polymers based on CO2 taken from the atmosphere, a cleaner, greener science project that will remove CO2 greenhouse gas from the environment.
The new products will be better for the environment, perform better and be affordable. By using products incorporating these new polymers European manufacturers could benefit from reduced emissions taxes. One day this technology has the potential to become a mainstream technology for the coating market and could also be used for plastic bottles and shopping bags.
For the consumer a whole range of greener choices are on the horizon.
