Finding sustainable solutions for a changing world
Today’s market needs are driven by a number of major global trends and challenges. At DSM we are using our innovative strengths to address some of the most important trends and challenges, such as climate change, increasing energy scarcity, overstretched healthcare systems and hidden hunger.
Innovation at DSM is all about finding effective, sustainable solutions for the issues facing the world today and tomorrow. For instance, our breakthrough biomedical innovations are helping people lead more active and healthier lives. Another example is our successful drive to create bio-based performance materials that are helping the world switch from a fossil feedstock-dependant economy to a sustainable bio-based one.
The brightest science for the best solution
Our innovation programs build on our own know-how as well as the technologies and products developed by others. For instance, we are combining our own resin technology with Novomer’s carbon dioxide conversion technology to develop a revolutionary high-performance, low-carbon-footprint coating resin using CO2 as a raw material.
About a fungus – mushrooming future potential
At DSM we also secure longer term innovative growth with radical innovation programs. A major breakthrough in bioconversion technology has brought second generation biofuels a big step closer to commercial reality. A potent cocktail of enzymes created by our scientists - and based on a fungus that normally feeds off dead trees - is the key to this significant success
Innovation rewarded
Our achievements do not go unnoticed. We have won numerous innovation awards over the past few years, including the ICIS Innovation Award and PDMA’s Outstanding Corporate Innovator Award.
