Paint without smog
The Chinese have a taste for high quality, high-gloss antique furniture.
But until now much of the lacquer and decorative paint on that furniture has been achieved with materials that are bad for the environment – and extremely unhealthy for the factory workers who produce the furniture itself.
Now DSM is leading a move away from solvent-based to waterborne resins that contribute to paints that are more environmentally friendly, healthier and more cost-effective.
In fact so great is demand that DSM has invested € 20 million since 2008 in a series of waterborne production lines in China.
