Nourishing the world

DSM is helping here with products like Fabuless®, a safe and effective dietary supplement that enables people to manage their weight; and Fruitflow, a natural, safe and effective compound to help maintain cardiovascular health. Meanwhile for those with allergies – for instance lactose intolerance - our Maxilact® product helps make delicious and healthy low lactose or lactose-free milk.

On the other hand, malnutrition continues on a mass scale across our planet. Here, DSM is instrumental to the UN World Food Program, and is helping to lead the fight against ‘hidden hunger’.

What that means on a human level is that when you eat breakfast cereal, it’s likely fortified with our vitamins; and the same goes for infant formulas and toddler foods. In fact, we’re involved in many health-preserving product or processes, including dairy products, juices, nutrition bars and sports drinks. We’re even working on healthier, more nutritious rice fortifications.

Sustainable food production

Our range of enzymes is bringing efficient and sustainable production closer to the food manufacturer by speeding up various reactions during production, using less raw materials and cutting waste and energy consumption. By making better use of enzymes, food producers can create enjoyable foods that benefit people, planet and profit.

Increasingly we’re using living cells and their enzymes to create industrial products from renewable feedstocks instead of the non-renewable fossil feedstocks. The result: Less energy consumption and waste during production – and most importantly products that are superior to those created using traditional chemical processes.
