Consensus is building – the effects of climate change and our dependence on fossil fuels call for fundamentally new approaches. To do our part, we are reducing our own eco-footprint and helping to reduce those of our customers, which can have an effect throughout our value chains.
Today’s customers increasingly seek sustainable value chains with higher yields, reduced waste, lower energy use and fewer GHG emissions. At the same time, we are seeing a growing emphasis on renewable energy sources.
At DSM, we focus on solutions for renewable energy, fuel efficiency and other ways to improve our eco-footprint throughout the value chain. For example, we offer and/or develop solutions for second-generation biofuels, coatings that make solar cells more efficient and materials that make cars lighter and therefore more energy-efficient. We are also developing new enzymatic processes that consume much less energy than conventional chemical processes.
