Capturing sustainability opportunities
We increasingly work with our suppliers to develop new ways to achieve our sustainability and innovation goals. For example, we substitute oil-based raw materials with renewable resources, and we have increased our total use of renewable energy. In the coming years we will encourage suppliers to contribute more and more to sustainability, asking them to:
- innovate to reduce the lifecycle footprint of our current and raw materials;
- replace hazardous chemicals or minimize their use;
- minimize packaging through re-use and reduction of required materials;
- focus on biodiversity;
- reduce water consumption;
- improve the carbon footprint of transport/logistics operations
Specifically, we’re asking our raw materials suppliers to reduce their emissions by more than 20% by 2020. This way, they can help us achieve our goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions in our value chains.
