Natural

ALL NATURAL written in green capital letters against a faded green background‘Natural’ is one of the booming trends in the food industry…but there’s something of a challenge here: Consumers want natural ingredients and authentic taste and you as a producer need raw materials that are stable and easily processed.  

The numbers say it all: Over 25% of product launches now have a ‘natural’ claim, and that number is growing. As for the consumer, 25% try to avoid artificial ingredients and 57% check product labels.

The solution is simple: Use natural ingredients to meet your customers’ needs. And cut your costs at the same time.

All our yeast extracts are 100% natural. In fact, they are derived from the same yeast source used to make bread, beer and wine. And because we have profiles in the main savory flavor directions you can create the exact taste profile you need.

We also produce a range of flavor ingredients that have the functionality of process flavors, but with a natural ‘yeast extract’ declaration. Standard process flavors are no longer considered natural. However, we process our yeast extracts so that they deliver an authentic taste, without having to add reducing sugars or amino acids.

Globally our products are considered to be natural. They are vegetarian, allergen-free, Kosher and Halal-approved and suitable for markets with the strictest regulations, including Japan.

And thanks to our patented enzyme technology they have the lowest acrylamide levels in the industry.

Simplify your label

With our 100% natural taste-enhancing yeast extracts you can create great tasting savory products, without the need for ingredients with e-numbers like MSG and I&G. Our yeast extracts are exactly what they say they are: extracts from yeast. They should be labeled as ‘yeast extract’ and according to European Food Law they can also be labeled ‘natural flavor’. Our yeast extracts perfectly fit in any product where simplicity in labeling is wanted.

SALT in characters‘Food minus’ - or cutting out unwanted ingredients - continues to be important and our range of savory ingredients almost always falls into the ‘Suitable for’ category.  

Salt reduction is especially important. With our yeast extracts Maxarome® Select and Maxarome® Pure you can reduce salt content by up to 40% while still retaining the salty taste people like, along with other potent flavors like umami. We also provide taste restoration through our range of all-natural process flavors, Maxavor® YE and Maxagusto™.

In the United States alone, up to 12 million people are thought to have food allergies. Because we genuinely only use natural ingredients, our savory ingredients are free from allergens such as soy or gluten and are ‘suitable for’ vegetarians. They also have multiple religious certifications, such as Halal and Kosher.

Authentic and adventurous

The Maxagusto™ family of cooked vegetables is based on real foodstuffs. We use kitchen cupboard ingredients to create authentic profiles that deliver on taste and aroma…whatever your local market’s tastes may be.

This last point is key: While different geographic markets may eat the same foods, their specific tastes vary considerably. Garlic may be preferred roasted (almost burned) in some Asian countries, while in Europe it’s less pungent.
