Step 1: Building the base

Raw chicken and vegetablesWhatever you build, it needs a solid foundation.

At this stage of our flavor pyramid it’s all about creating the basic savory taste of vegetables and meat, which then allows you build more complex flavors in the next stages.

We provide a range of 100%-natural basic yeast extracts that provide an authentic savory taste and umami thanks to their rich mix of amino acids, peptides and nucleotides.

For years our range of Gistex® yeast extracts has been a trusted savory base thanks to its meaty, sulphur-like components.

Crisps in bowlOur latest innovation Multirome is also 100% natural and made from primary grown bakers yeast. It’s the savory cornerstone of the future that strengthens any recipe with its rich indulgent savory taste, good umami, lingering flavor, and lack of yeasty odor. It’s often used in chips, bouillons, dressings, seasonings and soups.

And if you need to highlight a savory, cheesy taste at low sodium levels…try our Expresa® brewers yeast extract.

Step 3: Spices, herbs and specific top notes

A variety of green herbs in a white bowlHere you can create your own specific signature by selecting spices, herbs, top notes and other ingredients to build on the taste triangle foundation.

Step 4: The finishing touches

Tomato soup in bowlAt this final stage, you’re rounding off your flavor, giving it fullness, mouthfeel, balance and impact with our 100% natural taste enhancers. It’s down to the finishing touches…

Traditionally, amino acid and peptide complexes have provided a meaty bouillon flavor in taste enhancers. Not any more.

We’ve developed specialty yeast extracts for our Maxarome® ranges that are rich in natural glutamate and nucleotides - and work with the traditional ingredients to produce an even greater taste sensation.

Maxarome®Pure is our cleanest taste enhancer and has the highest level of nucleotides available on the market today. This means you produce faster, stronger and longer-lasting tastes and need less expensive ingredients such as beef, cheese, chicken or tomato powder, allowing you to cut cost and increase profits. Because both our Maxarome® Select and Pure ranges have a neutral taste of their own, they are ideal for milder flavor products.

Juicy meat on plateWe can also help you tease out a range of flavors, from sweet, peppery and salty notes to meaty succulence and juiciness – using our Gistex® HUM LS. You can use it to add a complex taste and creaminess to all sorts of savory foods. Because it ‘fools’ our bodies into tasting more salt, it’s also a great way of reducing sodium content – and you’ll need up to ten times less MSG. It’s particularly effective in combination with our Maxarome® taste enhancers.
