1941 - 1950
  • 1945 Coke production is confined to Maurits mine
  • 1945 Closure of Emma coke plant
  • 1947 DSM establishes licensing subsidiary Stamicarbon to manage its patents

1950 - 1960
  • 1952 Start of caprolactam production
  • 1956 Start of urea production
  • 1959 First high-pressure polyethylene plant goes into production

1960 - 1970
  • 1963 DSM’s first naphtha cracker (NAK 1) goes into operation
  • 1962 Construction of new Beatrix mine is halted
  • 1964 DSM builds its first melamine plant
  • 1965 DSM builds caprolactam plant in Flixborough
  • 1966 Decision to close the Maurits mine
  • 1969 Organization split up into six divisions

1970 - 1980
  • 1972 Formation of Unie van Kunstmestfabrieken (UKF)
  • 1973 DSM’s last coal mine is closed
  • 1973 DSM starts selling DL-phenylglycine to Gist-brocades
