Nitric acid

Chemical formula:  HNO3
Chemical name:     Nitric Acid

Nitric acid (HNO3) is a yellowish fuming, suffocating, hygroscopic and corrosive liquid. Nitric acid is a strong mineral acid with oxidizing properties and is fully miscible with water. Density and oxidizing properties will vary with concentration.

The acid is produced from ammonia by oxidation over platinum catalyst and absorption of formed nitrogen oxide in water. DSM Agro produces Nitric acid in 4 separate plants in IJmuiden (NL) and Geleen (NL) in two different concentrations : 53% and 60%.

The largest application for nitric acid is in the production of nitrogen containing solid - and liquid fertilizers. Substantial quantities are also used in the chemical synthesis of intermediates for products like fibers, dyes, drugs, explosives. Nitric acid is also used as cleaning agent in the dairy industry, as metal treatment agent and as a nitrogen source for micro-bacterial water purification systems.

The product is available in Tank cars. DSM Agro is a competitive and reliable supplier of nitric acid. The 53% Nitric Acid quality is stored and distributed from IJmuiden (NL), while the 60% Nitric acid quality is distributed from Geleen (NL). We supply various companies in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and overseas to Ireland with these products.
