Carbonylbiscaprolactam (ALLINCO® CBC)

CBC reacts during processing of polycondesates with hydroxy or amino end groups. During these reactions part of the caprolactam (which is a non toxic vapour well known in PA6 spinning) in CBC is set free. The reactions are mostly completed within the processing time (1-3 min). The increase in viscosity can be adjusted by the amount of chain extender. In practise about 0.2-0.8 wt% of the chain extender is used. CBC is a free flowing, white powder with a melting point of 115 ºC; it can be used alone or in combination with PBO.

Phenylenebisoxazoline (ALLINCO® PBO)

1,3-PBO reacts during the processing of polycondensates with carboxylic acid groups.
By the coupling two esteramides are formed with no volatiles emitted during the ring opening reaction. The reactions are mostly completed within the processing time. The increase in viscosity can be adjusted by the amount of chain extender. In practice about 0.2-0.8 wt% of the chain extender is used. 1,3-PBO is a free flowing powder with a melting point of 146 ºC. It is mainly used in combination with CBC.

Phenylenebisoxazine (ALLINCO® PBOX)

1,4-PBOX reacts very fast during the processing of polycondensates with carboxylic acid groups. No volatiles are emitted during the ring opening reaction, which is much faster than PBO and ca. 2-3 times faster than CBC. There are numerous other advantages such as acid scavenging and expected non-toxicity which make ALLINCO® PBOX very promising. ALLINCO® PBOX is still at the very early stage of the development process, with only test quantities available.
