DSM Nutrition Award for Human Nutrition

The aim of the DSM Nutrition Award is to reward outstanding contributions to innovative research in the field of human and animal nutrition by established scientists anywhere in the world. The award is presented every two years and alternates between the fields of human and animal nutrition.

In 2007 the award was granted for research on animal nutrition and in 2009 for research on human nutrition. In 2011 it will once again be granted for research on animal nutrition.

Human Nutrition
The DSM Nutrition Award for Human Nutrition is granted in recognition of excellence in innovative research related to essential nutrients as well as to other naturally occurring bioactive compounds in the field of human nutrition. This can be research of a fundamental nature as well as applied research providing solutions to important research questions in the field of human nutrition. A prime requirement is that the research must have significantly advanced the world’s understanding and knowledge of key questions in the field of human nutrition, contributed to general well-being and/or reduced the risk of chronic disease in man.
