An international pre-selection committee will review the nominations and submit a shortlist of the best candidates to an international judging committee, which will select the winner.
For the nomination, the following criteria are applied:

• Quality
• Impact
• Nutritional Ingredient
• Scientific reputation
In the final judging the following criteria will be taken into account:
• Reputation among peers / publication in peer-reviewed journals
• Contribution to Human Nutrition & Health / Consistency of research activities
• Innovativeness of scientific contribution
• Research related to DSM scientific interest
• Influence on policy & programs related to Human Nutrition
• Future potential to contribute to science
• Communication & interpersonal skills
Award presentation
The award will be presented at a major international nutrition congress in 2013. The award recipient must be present to accept the award and present a paper on his/her research achievements.
