Judging and Award presentation

Judging
An international judging committee – made up of two members representing IUPAC and three independent members and chaired by a DSM executive – reviews the nominations and select the winner. 

The Judging Committee for 2012 is composed of:
Chair: Dr Joseph A. Put (recently retired as Chief Technology Officer of DSM) (non-voting member)

IUPAC members:
Prof. Michael Buback (President, Polymer Division)
Prof. Christopher K. Ober (Polymer Division)

Other members:
Prof. Edward J. Kramer, Materials Research Laboratory, University of California at Santa Barbara, USA
Prof. Bert Meijer, Distinguished University Professor in Molecular Sciences and Professor of Organic Chemistry at Eindhoven University of Technology, Netherlands
Prof. Roeland Nolte, Emeritus Professor of Organic Chemistry, Radboud University Nijmegen, Netherlands

Judging criteria
The following judging criteria are applied in assessing the merits of the nominated candidates’scientific achievements:

  • Contribution to advancement of materials sciences research / Consistency of research activities
  • Originality and innovative quality of research achievements
  • Reputation among peers / publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Impact of scientific work on industry/society / future potential to contribute to science

Award presentation
The 2012 award will be presented to the winner on Monday, June 25, 2012 during the IUPAC World Polymer Congress 2012 to be held at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA (USA).
