Pre-selection, judging and award presentation

All nominations are reviewed by a pre-selection committee comprising DSM and ACS POLY experts in fields relating to the theme chosen for that year. This committee draws up a shortlist of four candidates, who are then invited to present their research to a judging committee at a dedicated DSM/ACS POLY symposium at the Fall National Meeting of the ACS. The symposium also features presentations by leading academics working at the forefront of Polymer Technology research.

After the symposium, the judging committee selects the winner from the four shortlisted candidates. The award is presented to the winner at a special ACS POLY awards ceremony. The winner receives a cash prize of $2,000. For the four shortlisted candidates, travel and conference registration costs of up to $700 are provided.

The 2012 award

In 2012, the Fall National Meeting of the ACS will take place in Philadelphia, PA, from August 19-23. The 2012 DSM Polymer Technology Award symposium will be held on Tuesday August 21, and the winner will be announced during the ACS POLY Award Reception on Wednesday, August 22.
