DSMPureActives™, the new standard in antibiotics

We have used our R&D capability in Biology and Chemistry to integrate both industries for the development of a new range of high quality semi-synthetic penicillin and semi-synthetic Cephalosporin. The results of this effort are the DSMPureActives™ each produced with our innovative enzymatic technology. 

The DSMPureActives™ range consists of Purimox® (Amoxicillin Trihydrate), Purilex™ (Cephalexin) and Puridrox™ (Cefadroxil).

The traditional process for making antibiotics required the use of many harmful solvents and chemicals. Our enzymatic technology has limited or eliminated completely the use of chemicals and solvents. It gives the DSMPureActives™ a higher purity and has a positive effect on the product quality both for the patient and the manufacturer. Residues of chemical substances will not end up in the final product.

The absence of solvents and chemicals together with our optimized production processes reduce the impact on the environment. Our enzymatic production process reduces energy consumption by 66%, produces 90% less waste and creates 50% less emissions to air, compared to the old “Chemical process”.
