DSM Anti-Infectives Launches Purimox® In Asia-Pacific

Launches its revolutionary antibiotic with highest purity - Purimox® from the DSM Pure Actives TM portfolio

Toansa, Punjab, India August 23, 2006: Global leader DSM Anti-Infectives today announced the launch of its breakthrough technology in India, in succession to its first production facility in Spain with the introduction of Purimox® an antibiotic with highest purity. Speaking on the occasion of the introduction of Purimox®, Mr. Gerard De Reuver, President, DSM Anti-Infectives said, “We have a long-term commitment to India. Purimox®, a penicillin based antibiotic, is from the DSM Pure ActivesTM family of environmental friendly products. Purimox® was introduced in Toansa, Punjab by Mr. Gerard De Reuver, the President of DSM Anti-Infectives. Conventionally, amoxicillin is produced in a synthetic process using strong solvents and chemicals.

Purimox® is a technological breakthrough as it produces amoxicillin in an enzymatic route without use of solvents, leading to a product of higher purity and lesser impurities. Through the launch of production of Purimox® in India, DSM is making available to the pharmaceutical companies in Asia-Pacific/Middle East/ Africa and therefore to consumers, a safe product made in an effective and sustainable way.

DSM Anti-Infectives inaugurated the Purimox® plant at Toansa, Chandigarh, India which would be completely dedicated to the manufacturing of Purimox®. The plant would be dedicated to meet demand across Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa.
