Cephalosporins are structurally related to Penicillins, produced either by
Cephalosporium mold and also produced by Penicillin by converting one of the
methyl group of thiazolidine ring into six member dihydrothiazine ring.
Cephalosporins are having similar mechanism of action as that of Penicillins
with increased advantage of their resistance to staphylococcal penicillanase
and are somewhat broad antibacterial spectrum. Examples are Cephalexin,
cefadroxil, cefradine etc.
