Christophe Dardel currently serves as the President of DSM Biomedical, a leading supplier of materials solutions to the medical device and biopharmaceutical industries. He is responsible for growing the business’ global activities which are currently conducted in Geleen, The Netherlands and Berkeley, CA, USA. Before joining DSM Biomedical in May 2010, Christophe served for eight years as President of DSM Dyneema, the inventor and manufacturer of Dyneema®, the world’s strongest fiber™. In 2003 he was also appointed board member of Nippon Dyneema Co., Ltd - a joint venture of Toyobo and DSM. Prior to joining DSM in 2002, Christophe was Global Business Manager for 3M’s PTFE Filled Compounds and Managing Director at Dyneon B.V., a subsidiary of 3M, where he was responsible for the development and execution of the company’s strategic business development efforts. Before joining 3M, Christophe worked at E. I. du Pont de Nemours for twelve years, within the Fluoroproducts Division, holding several positions in technical development, sales, marketing, and business management. Christophe earned his Masters of Science degree in Computer Science and Electronics from ESIEA in Paris, and currently resides in Maastricht, The Netherlands with his wife and five children.

Frederik Hoogendijk, is the chief financial officer of DSM Biomedical. As CFO, Hoogendijk is responsible for managing the financial operations and developing strategic plans to achieve profitable growth. Prior to his current position, Hoogendijk was the director of finance & control for DSM Fine Chemicals, having joined the division in 2006. Hoogendijk has held a variety of financial control positions since 1996 across several DSM-owned businesses in a number of countries including Brazil, Chile, The Netherlands and Austria. Since joining DSM, Hoogendijk has played a significant role in heading projects to increase the company’s value and to drive growth in new markets across the globe. Prior to his time at DSM, Hoogendijk spent 6 years as Financial Controller with Hollandsche Beton Groep. He holds a master’s degree in business economics from Erasmus University (Rotterdam, the Netherlands).

Robert Evans currently serves as the Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing at DSM Biomedical, where he is responsible for development and execution of the company’s global strategic business development efforts. Since 1996, Robert has played a key role across several of DSM’s international business units through various sales and marketing positions. Most recently, Robert was the Global Sales and Marketing Director, based in the Netherlands, for DSM Dyneema’s Life Protection division, where he successfully deployed corporate strategies, increased company profitability, created new business opportunities and implemented strategic marketing tactics for DSM Dyneema’s product line. He directed and oversaw all sales and marketing activities in the EMEA, Americas and Asia Pacific business regions. Previously, Robert spent three years as Product Manager for DSM Engineering Plastics, where he directed and oversaw all marketing aspects, built and led a product team, and launched four new products. While at DSM Engineering Plastics, Robert also held sales manager and color technology manager positions. Robert holds an MBA from the University of Southern Indiana (Evansville) and a bachelor's degree in chemistry from George Mason University (Fairfax, Va.).

Donato Di Biase is Business Director at DSM Biomedical where he is responsible for the company’s efforts to develop materials solutions for drug delivery and regenerative medicine. Donato has held various commercial and operation management roles over the past 15 years in companies active in biomedical materials and medical diagnostics. Before joining DSM Biomedical in 2007, Donato served as Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer at Hemoteq AG, a leading provider of surface modification solutions for medical devices. In this position, he played an integral role in reorganizing the company from one with a scientific-oriented focus to one with a market -and product-oriented focus. While at Hemoteq AG, Donato also implemented long-term corporate identity, and sales and marketing strategies with an emphasis on international markets. Prior to Hemoteq GmbH, Donato was the Sales and Marketing Manager for Creatogen AG, a company active in the field of vaccine development and microbiological diagnostic tests. Previously, Donato served as Marketing Manger for Creatogen Biosciences GmbH and Branch Manager for RADIM S.p.A., a manufacturer of diagnostic equipment and test kits. Donato studied chemistry at the University of Siegen, Germany and Medicine at the University of Chieti, Italy. Donato also holds a Master’s degree in Biology from University Giessen, Germany.

Marc Hendriks is the Director of Global R&D and Technology and member of the Global Leadership Team of DSM Biomedical. Marc provides scientific and strategic leadership to the overall RT&D organization and is primarily responsible for establishing the company’s RT&D strategy, and setting up a RT&D portfolio that is in close liaison to business strategy and focused on the enhancement of existing and creation of novel, innovative and market-acceptable biomedical product and therapy solutions. Associated to this role, Marc also provides leadership to DSM Biomedical’s New Business Development activities in the field of Tissue Engineering & Regenerative Medicine. On behalf of DSM, Marc is a member of the Managing Board of Actamax Surgical Materials LLC, a joint venture between DSM and DuPont. Marc joined DSM in 2006 after spending 15 years at Medtronic’s Bakken Research Center in Maastricht, the Netherlands. During his time with Medtronic, Marc served in various roles including Research Director, where he led various R&D projects on surface modification technologies, drug delivery and cross-linking technologies for bioprosthetic tissues; Manager of Biomaterials Technology; Scientist and Engineer. Marc holds over 25 U.S. Patents, with several more pending. He has also co-authored over thirty journal articles and various book chapters in the field of biomedical materials research. Marc is President of the Surfaces in Biomaterials Foundation (SIBF), organizer of the annual BioInterface symposium, and Treasurer of the European Symposium of Controlled Drug Delivery Foundation (ESCDD), who organizes a bi-annual symposium. Marc received both his PhD and Masters of Science degrees from Eindhoven University of Technology and holds an MBA from University Maastricht Business School.

Richard Alsterberg currently serves as Vice President of Operations for DSM Biomedical. He is responsible for directing operations at the Berkeley, California facility and for leading the improvement of overall performance across all DSM Biomedical operations and manufacturing sites. Prior to this position, Richard served as the DSM NeoResins+ Waalwijk Site Manager part of the DSM Resins Business Group. During his tenure, he was responsible for the largest site within the Resins Business Group, with 490 people, half of which were involved in manufacturing. Richard was responsible for restructuring the Waalwijk Site from three separate plants into one Manufacturing Excellence-based site as well as the installation of a new €30 million Acrylic Emulsions Plant. Before that, Richard served in a number of roles at DSM NeoResins including Manufacturing Manager, Wilmington Site Manager and VP of Operations. During his tenure in those roles, Richard was responsible for all aspects of US manufacturing operations including engineering and capital expenditure. Richard helped achieve Oliver Wight Class A Certification in four key business process areas, a level of performance that only 4 percent of all companies in the world reach. Prior to joining DSM NeoResins in 1994, Richard was the Commissioning Manager at Zeneca Specialties, a manufacturer of specialty chemicals, where he was responsible for the transfer of a key manufacturing process from one production facility to another. Before joining Zeneca Specialties, Richard worked for 11 years in different engineering and chemical design positions within ICI. Richard earned Bachelor of Science degrees, in chemical engineering and in biomedical engineering, at Carnegie-Mellon University. He also completed an executive training course at Harvard Business School, seven courses with Oliver Wight and many in-house training programs while at ICI.

Margaret Macedo currently serves as Director of Human Resources for DSM Biomedical. She is responsible for developing and implementing competitive policies on recruitment, development, training, compensation and benefits, and performance management, within the scope of Corporate HR requirements and in support of organizational objectives. She advises all levels of management within the organization on employee, organizational and business issues and acts as a change agent in the implementation of organizational and cultural change initiatives. Prior to this position, Margaret served in HR leadership positions and gained valuable experience implementing HR programs in various industries including publishing, software technology, and transportation. Throughout her career she has ensured best practices in the areas of employee relations; recruitment and selection; compensation and benefits; performance management development; HR policies and procedures; and compliance issues. Margaret earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Studies at California State University, Chico. She is also certified by the Society of Human Resources Management as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).

Julian Adams currently serves as the Intellectual Asset Manager for DSM Biomedical, a leading supplier of materials solutions to the medical device and biopharmaceutical industries. He is responsible for all of the business’ intellectual property matters including strategies that direct the development of intellectual property and maximize the return from these assets. In his role, Julian works closely with various departments within DSM Biomedical, including Business, Research and Development, and Regulatory and Intellectual Property, to facilitate an integrated approach to intellectual asset management. Prior to joining DSM Biomedical in 2007, Julian worked for 10 years at Smith & Nephew, spending the first five years in Research and Development project management focusing on cartilage repair, scar-free wound healing and tissue engineering and the next five years in the intellectual property department of the Company, where he was responsible for the Research Centre patent filings and the US-based Endoscopy division's non-US patent activities. Julian holds a Postgraduate Certificate in intellectual property law and a PhD in wound healing biology from the University of Manchester, UK. Julian also holds a BSc in applied biology from the University of Cardiff, UK.
