DSM Coating Resins' product portfolio for decorative coatings is composed around air-drying alkyd based resins. These resins form the basis of a rich palette of resin systems, each with its own special properties.

Alkyd resins are the perfect basis for decorative coatings, combining ease of application with high performance.

Delivered in emulsion form, they also offer the most environment-friendly and labour friendly option.
As a major player DSM Coating Resins can serve the market for decorative coatings from three production plants in Europe.

Applications for the decorative market include primers, stains and topcoats (interior and exterior) for both professional and DIY applications

Our R&D chemists are successfully developing coating resins to achieve minimal impact on human health (OPS) and the environment. In our view waterborne binder systems will play a major role in enabling our customers to come up with solutions that ensure the right balance between coating performance and environmental impact. Good examples are high solids and alkyd emulsions, which effectively combine an environment-friendly composition with a high level of corrosion protection.

Alongside our conventional alkyd systems, we now offer an increasing number of new, future oriented systems. Recent examples include:
