Charge-Air Cooler End Caps

Intercoolers reduce the charge air temperature after compression in the turbocharger, allowing more air into the cylinders to improve engine efficiency and reduce the possibility of pre-combustion. Plastic end caps give significant cost and weight reduction compared to metal parts.

Stanyl® provides the best solution for hot side end caps

Gives highest sealing integrity for fixing to aluminum radiator due to its unique combination of material properties
− Best stiffness at high temperatures
− Best creep resistance at high temperatures
− Best fatigue resistance to withstand the pressure variation of the charge air

Lowest system cost in plastic part
 – Easy flow material for shorter cycle times, reduced molding costs and improved productivity
 – Higher stiffness at high temperature allows for thinner walls, reducing weight and material cost
 – Tough material reduces risk of damage during crimping to radiator compared to PPS or PPA.

Proven track record for more than 8 years at leading OEM’s

Akulon® PA6 for cold side end caps

•  Excellent and adequate stiffness, creep and fatigue resistance at normal cold side temperatures of ± 120ºC to secure sealing integrity
•  Improved productivity. Tough, easy molding material, reduces molding costs and ensures easy assembly.
