Extra dimensions in automotive electrical components

Enhancing reliability and productivity

DSM engineers materials to give that little bit extra that makes products perform better or reduces development and production costs.

Most needs in automotive electrical components are met by our standard portfolio of Akulon polyamides, Arnite polyesters and Stanyl.
• Akulon: tough temperature resistant PA6 and 66 for under the hood components where snap fits and performance close to the engine are important
• Arnite: for dimensionally stable moldings and engine compartment temperature resistance
• Stanyl: for the tougher, more demanding temperature or mechanical property requirements

For that little bit extra:

Akulon Ultraflow: easy flowing, fast cycling PA resins (up to 30% shorter cycle times)  provide a better finish, lower production costs

Arnite TV4 441 / TV4 461: for precision molding. Offering reduced shrinkage and warpage compared to normal PBT but otherwise similar flow and properties. Reduces the number of tool corrections to achieve the targeted tolerances. Ideal for fuse and relay boxes.

Arnite TV8: high viscosity PBT with higher elongation at break and improved fatigue resistance. Engineered for wiper motor housings to 2½ million cycles and approved on snow-block test at –40C

Stanyl: the standard materials have rather special properties; superior toughness enhances safety for ABS and sensor components, exhibits good sealing when over-molding metals and eliminating the need for special seals, capable of high temperatures close to the engine, compatible with lead-free solder processes and yet easy to mold. High flow grades (flow similar to LCP) allows thin-wall molding. More...
