Part design for induction welding

The most commonly used joints are the tongue and groove joint and the step joint. The shear joint is the strongest connection, as externally applied forces only result in shear stresses in the weld. The dimensions of the gasket and the groove are designed in such a way that an overfill of about 5% is achieved, so that the space between the parts is completely filled with melted polymer.

The tolerance requirements for the parts are not very tight, due to the capacity of the welding material to fill gaps or voids.
