Chemical resistance of Stanyl®

Polyamides are well known for their resistance to a wide range of chemicals. Stanyl is no exception. At higher temperatures its resistance to oils and greases is excellent (see figures below).

Stanyl also has an outstanding resistance to fuels with low permeating levels, even for alcohol containing fuels. Stanyl is therefore an ideal material for applications under the hood in the automotive industry and for other industrial applications such as gears and bearings.

Fuel resistance 85% Methanol, 15%  unleaded fuel.

As with all other polyamides, Stanyl is attacked by strong mineral acids and absorbs polar solvents. For more information concerning the resistance of Stanyl to various chemicals and solvents reference the chemical resistance chart  or contact your local DSM sales office.
