Part design for hot gas welding

V-welds are shown below with the most commonly used round welding rod and a welding rod with a triangular cross-section for improved heat transfer and flow. The double V-weld in figure C offers a stronger connection, as stress concentrations at the bottom of the groove are avoided. The solution shown in figure D has the advantage that no chamfering is required.
