In-mold decorating processes offer one or more of the following advantages
over conventional coating procedures:
- lower costs, no separate
painting line,
- reduced or eliminated emissions of volatiles,
- many problems related with solvent-substrate compatibility are avoided,
- no heat-curing restrictions, and
- multi-color patterns possible.
On the other hand, in-mold decoration makes the injection molding process more
complicated. Several methods are available.
