Increased durability and performance for gears under all conditions

Adding new value to medium duty gears

With accuracy levels of DIN 8 /Agma9 and power rating 1 kW @ 8000 rpm, our extensive portfolio and knowledge on gear designs can help you realize more durable and compact designs and lower costs.

Benefits of plastic gears compared to metal gears
•  Significant weight reductions possible, to less than one third that of the metal gear
•  Cost reductions of 30-50%, productivity increased and supply chain shortened
•  Lower elastic modulus reduces transmission error
•  Perceived noise is less; noise can be lowered further by using Arnitel® dampening materials

Our broad portfolio allows you to find the right material for your gear

•  Stanyl® : provides highest service life, greater power transmission and more compact designs at higher PV conditions than most plastics can cope with. Oil and temperature resistance to 200°C. Lubricated grades for dry run conditions; in oil, doubles service life vs. PA66. Unmatched fatigue and creep resistance at both ambient and high temperatures. More...
•  Arnitel® : Dimensionally stable, elastomeric polymer for precision solutions in low noise gear trains.
•  Nylatron® : Lubricated specialty PA66, engineered for wear applications
•  Akulon® : standard PA6 materials for broad range of transmission gear applications
•  Arnite® : polyester gears not affected by moisture and can withstand temperatures up to 150°C
•  Xantar® : lubricated polycarbonates for highest accuracy

And DSM’s wear and gear know-how helps you optimize your gear designs

•   Extensive know-how on wear and friction applications.
•   Design and CAE support to optimize tooth profile, tooling and molding processes throughout the regions
•   Broad portfolio of materials suitable for gears; including lubricated Stanyl®, polyesters and polyamides.

For higher torque ratings

When acetal gears  do not give the give the torque ratings required, changing to Stanyl® can double your performance.

Stanyl’s high bending strength and excellent wear resistance makes it the preferred material for gears where loads or temperature exceed what POM can handle.

Unreinforced Stanyl® has superior wear performance against metals. Lubricated, high strength, reinforced grades extend your load capability in plastic gears.
