Taisol Electronics, the second largest Taiwanese memory card manufacturer with branch offices in China, Singapore, Japan, USA and worldwide distribution, has commercialized halogen-free V-0 Stanyl^® ForTii^™ for its 5-in-1 memory card socket, readily usable for Memory StickTM, SD CardTM, MMCTM, Smart MediaTM, and xD-Picture CardTM.

As a result of recent increase in the cost of key raw materials, DSM Engineering Plastics will increase prices in North America for Akulon® polyamide 6 for film, packaging, fibers, extrusion and compounds by $0.10/lb. This increase will take effect as of May 1, 2010.

T-CONN, one of the major local connector manufacturer in Taiwan, has selected Stanyl^® ForTii^™ as the halogen-free housing material for its wide range of battery connectors.

The 2009 Frost & Sullivan European Product Innovation of the Year Award in the field of high performance polymers for electronics is presented to DSM Engineering Plastics for Stanyl^® ForTii^™, the first new polymer that meets the current market trends of miniaturisation and convergence of electronic devices. The product offers multiple advantages including dimensional stability, improved performance, environmental benefits, cost benefits, strength and chemical resistance, and ease of processing.

Due to escalating raw material costs, DSM Engineering Plastics in North America will increase the price of extrusion grades of Akulon® polyamide 6 products by $0.10/lb. This increase will take effect December 15th, 2009.

DSM Engineering Plastics (DEP) has announced that the company is now able to offer a full range of halogen free engineering plastics for the production of RAST connectors in the white goods industry.

Thanks to its unique combination of properties, Stanyl^® was selected by SKF Group, for a new generation of deep groove ball bearings, designed to cut energy consumption by at least 30%.

DSM has developed a new Arnite Low Outgassing PET XL Grade to specifically meet the needs of Adaptive Forward (AFX) Modules. Philips, the world’s leading producer of energy-efficient lighting solutions, has introduced a new LED lamp with a difference. Based on a joint development with DSM, the Philips MASTER LED MR16 retrofit lamp is the first high-power LED application in which the aluminum cover is replaced with a thermally conductive plastic – Stanyl® – to control the heat.

Currently various engine and road tests are ongoing. Final design validation of Akulon PA6 in the oil sumps and oil pans is expected for the end of 2009.

PVS-Kunststofftechnik, a company specializing in overmolded insulation and other precision parts such as cooling fans for the electronic industry, has used Stanyl® PA46 for the stator of the latest electric waterpump produced by Pierburg, the world’s first series-production supplier of electric coolant pumps.

Ford has selected Arnitel TPC from DSM Engineering Plastics for the production of vacuum brake tubes for its recently launched new Ford Fiesta. In doing so, Ford has acknowledged the advantages of Arnitel for this specific application. Ford already uses Arnitel in similar applications in a number of its models: Ford Mondeo, Ford S-Max, Ford C-Max, Ford Galaxy and Ford Focus.

Bauser, an injection molding company specialized in precision parts located in Wehingen, Germany, has successfully introduced a production process for automotive gears, using DSM Engineering Plastics Stanyl PA46 annealing technology. The company was the first plastic gear supplier in Germany to jointly commercially introduce the technology, almost 2 years ago.

STOCKO Contact, one of the leading European manufacturers of electro-mechanical components, and the first company in Europe to introduce a SMT RAST connector, has extended its product range with two new series of SMT pin connectors for use in domestic appliance engineering. Following trials of DSM’s new high performance polymer Stanyl® ForTii™, Stocko now plans to switch all their SMT connectors to Stanyl ForTii.

At a special naming ceremony today in Sittard, The Netherlands, the global leader in high temperature polyamides announced that the new polymer will be known as Stanyl® ForTii™. Key customers from various industries in the US, Europe and Asia have been involved in the naming process.
