DSM Engineering Plastics has announced a price increase for its’ Akulon®
polyamide polymers and compounds in Europe, effective April 1st, or as
contracts permit, for all shipments.
The specific increases are as follows:
• Akulon PA6 compounds €80/t
• Akulon PA6 film €100/t
• Akulon PA66 all €100/t
These increases are similar to those already announced by DSM Engineering
Plastics Americas. In Asia Pacific, price increases will also be implemented,
taking into consideration the inflatory effects of the US Dollar on raw
material prices .
Richard Pieters, Global Business Manager at DSM Engineering Plastics said:
"For some time now, we have experienced a steady increase in the cost of
petrochemical raw materials, transportation and energy. These could no longer
be offset by increasing productivity. Mr. Pieters added: "DSM EP is
faced with the additional effect of rising cost for chemicals used for
Caprolactam, our key feedstock for Polyamide. This is caused by exceptional
high prices for ammonia and sulfur, besides rising gas prices. We can no
longer avoid raising our prices. At the same time, we will continue to fund
investments in innovations, new products and new technology development for
our customers - as we set out to retain our position as a sustainable partner
within the performance materials industry."
