DSM today announced the launch of a new grade in Stanyl®. Stanyl, a high
performance polyamide is used extensively for automotive applications where
extreme wear resistance is required. The new grade named Stanyl TW272B6 is a
special grade with very high stiffness and outstanding wear resistance suited
ideally for taking very high loads during sliding and roller bearing
applications.
Hironobu Maeda, Business Development Manager, DSM Engineering Plastics Japan:
“We approached our customer who was providing the power operated door modules
to a leading Japanese car manufacturer. In this application they were
overmolding plastic on a metal bearing. With Stanyl, they could eliminate the
complete bearing from the system. Stanyl TW272B6 improved the noise
performance and brought system cost reductions to meet the expectations of
their OEM.”
Sanjay Jain, Product Manager – Stanyl, DSM Engineering Plastics Asia Pacific:
“DSM has been working closely with leading automotive Tier 1 suppliers to help
them achieve their technical specifications. Stanyl TW272B6 was specially
developed to replace metal and exotic materials. This new grade launch
compliments our existing portfolio of wear resistant materials and broadens
our offering to the market”
