Delivering consistent quality for your productivity

At DSM, quality is a top priority. Quality is systematically built into processes and products from the beginning which can be seen in our relations with industrial partners and a true co-makership response to technical challenges. We are there with technical service before and after sales helping customers optimize their processes.

Quality assurance

DSM is committed to achieving and exceeding the quality required by its customers, and to supply competitive products on a consistent basis. Our quality assurance processes are based on the ISO/TS-169494 requirements and as such all DSM Engineering Plastics locations are ISO 9001:2002 and TS/ISO16949:2002 certified. Our test laboratories are certified by external authorities, such as UL for in-house flammability and electrical testing and TS17025.

DSM applies the powerful core tools of the ISO/TS procedures, like the Product Quality Planning and Control Plan (APQP) and the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP). Whether your product is manufactured in Evansville Indiana or Jiangyin China, DSM has global quality standards to assure consistency of products. We remain dedicated to improving processes for our customers and to solving long-term issues with long-term solutions.

In addition to monitoring our own processes and products, we measure the performance of our raw material suppliers. Their ingredients determine the performance of our end products in one-way or another. We monitor the quality and reliability of these products and of the suppliers themselves. Our suppliers are evaluated at least once a year by a cross-functional team that measures aspects like quality (specifications), supply security (just in time deliveries), communication, logistics, safety, health and environmental (SHE) elements, and progress on the agreed improvement activities. 

Complaint handling

It’s our aim to strive for zero-defects and complaints. Systems are in place to ensure customer complaints are handled with high priority and to limit the time between receipt of the complaint and the final answer to the customer as to the cause of the complaint and proposed corrective and preventive actions.

Safety, health, and environment

It is DSM policy to maintain business activities and products that do not adversely affect safety or health and that fit with the concept of sustainable development. We have an Environmental Management System in place in all sites worldwide and we are in the process of aligning our site Environmental Management Systems to the international standard ISO 14001:2004.

Product information and specifications

Specifications are an integral part of the Supply Agreement between DSM and the customer. DSM standardized test methods used for material characterization are based on international accepted standards like ISO and ASTM. Statistical data, product safety, Material Safety Data Sheets, and certificates of analysis are made available to our customers for all materials.

Packaging and shipping

DSM is able to deliver engineering plastics in bags on pallet, octapacks, boxes, big bags and silo, shipping products anywhere in the world, quickly and reliably.
