DSM Engineering Plastics introduces Akulon RC at K 2010
At K 2010, DSM Engineering Plastics will announce the commercialization of Akulon RC, a portfolio of post-industrial recycled grades of PA6 for use in  Automotive under-the-bonnet applications. The new material is planned to be available from the end of 2010 – with first commercial applications following in early 2011

Thanks to its unique combination of properties, Stanyl® was selected by SKF Group, for a new generation of deep groove ball bearings, designed to cut energy consumption by at least 30%.

 DSM inaugurates new production facility for Stanyl® ForTii™
Royal DSM N.V., the global Life Sciences and Materials Sciences company headquartered in the Netherlands, has today inaugurated its new Stanyl® ForTii Production Unit. As announced in May 2009, the new facility has quadrupled production capacity for Stanyl ForTii in order to meet market demand for this new polymer, which is used in electronics and other applications. Stanyl ForTii was developed by DSM Engineering Plastics and is the first new polymer introduced in the last decade.

Stanyl Fortii used in Memory Card Connectors for printers
Taisol Electronics, the second largest Taiwanese memory card manufacturer with branch offices in China, Singapore, Japan, USA and worldwide distribution, has commercialized halogen-free V-0 Stanyl® ForTii for its 5-in-1 memory card socket, readily usable for Memory StickTM, SD CardTM, MMCTM, Smart MediaTM, and xD-Picture CardTM.

Stanyl® Fortii™ used in Optical Disk Drives for computers
FCI, a globally leading supplier of interconnect products, has approved halogen-free V-0 Stanyl® ForTii for their FPC Connectors product line of Optical Disk Drives and is currently expanding the usage on various other connectors and sockets.

Lower cost and increased performance for ODU's new MAC LC (SMT version), powered by DSM's Stanyl Fortii
ODU Steckverbindungssysteme GmbH, a leading connector manufacturing company in Mühldorf, Germany, has selected high performance Stanyl® ForTii™ from DSM Engineering Plastics for its latest ODU MAC LC (Modular Attachable Connector rectangular – Low Cycle Version), which was developed specifically for PCB – termination without frame.

T-CONN, one of the major local connector manufacturer in Taiwan, has selected Stanyl® ForTii as the halogen-free housing material for its wide range of battery connectors.

The 2009 Frost & Sullivan European Product Innovation of the Year Award in the field of high performance polymers for electronics is presented to DSM Engineering Plastics for Stanyl® ForTii, the first new polymer that meets the current market trends of miniaturisation and convergence of electronic devices. The product offers multiple advantages including dimensional stability, improved performance, environmental benefits, cost benefits, strength and chemical resistance, and ease of processing.

Offering sustainable solutions for RAST connectors
DSM Engineering Plastics (DEP) has announced that the company is now able to offer a full range of halogen free engineering plastics for the production of RAST connectors in the white goods industry.

Bio-based polymers able to perform in critical technical components

 Arnitel ECO to be launched at K 2010
Following the successful introduction of EcoPaXX, a bio-based, high performance engineering plastic, DSM Engineering Plastics will be launching Arnitel® Eco at K 2010. Arnitel Eco is a high performance thermoplastic copolyester (TPC) with a 20%-50% content derived from renewable resources, depending on the hardness of the grade.

EcoPaXX™, Breakthrough in polymers
DSM Engineering Plastics has expanded further its Green Portfolio with the introduction of EcoPaXX™, a bio-based, high performance engineering plastic. The new material, which is based on polyamide (PA) 410, has been developed by DSM in recent years, and is now set to be commercialized.
