Transparent base resin. Polycarbonate is a glass clear, transparent
resin that does not discolour over time. The best option for parts needing
transparency.
Gloss. Parts with a high gloss finish can be made from Xantar®.
Colorability. Xantar resins are easily colored. Parts can be made
clear, translucent, tinted or with solid colors.Coloring with masterbatches
during processing is easy as Xantar resins have a highly stable and neutral
base color. For very critical color requirements, compounded-in colors are
recommended. Provided minimum lot size requirements are fulfilled, our highly
skilled color laboratory can give a fast and accurate coloring service.
Special Colour Effects. Fantasy colours from Xantar give metallic

Easy to paint and metalize due to polarity of polymer.
2K over-moulding for soft touch features easily accomplished with
copolyester resins.
Dimensional Stability
Xantar resins are amorphous. Unfilled grades have a low and uniform shrinkage
in all part directions, resulting in high dimensional stability after
moulding, little to no warpage and a low tendency to sink marks.
Enhanced stiffness grades which are reinforced with glass fibres have lower
shrinkage than crystalline resins and close tolerance parts are easier to
obtain. Warpage is also less than with crystalline materials.
Part appearance is less sensitive to processing conditions.
Outstanding toughness and impact strength in plastic
Xantar resins are tough, demonstrating high impact resistance. Parts likely to
be subjected to abuse will have a longer service life and durability when made
in Xantar than with most other resins. This is especially true for thin walled
consumer goods e.g. electronics.
Complex parts can be designed in Xantar and yet still be easily molded without
concern for breakage when demolding.
Xantar is used for lenses and housings in traffic lighting systems. Its unique
combination of very high toughness, transparency and versatility in coloring
gives cost effective, attractive plastic moldings that are resistant to
vandalization.
