Adipic acid dihydrazide - Adipic dihydrazide - ADH

Adipic acid dihydrazide (CAS 1071-93-8, ADH) is used as chain extender in the preparation of waterborne polyurethane binders and secondly as crosslinker in waterbased coatings. The acrylic dispersions, used in these waterbased coatings, often contain diacetone acrylamide (DAA) as second component.

Key features of adipic acid dihydrazide

DSM adipic acid dihydrazide has a very low free hydrazine content. The turbidity is also very low as result of the low level of by-products.

Additional benefit of DSM adipic acid dihydrazide is the low cost for packaging material disposal. DSM adipic acid dihydrazide is manufactured at one of our sites in Europe.

Adipic acid dihydrazide, part of our portfolio for cross-linking systems

In combination with diacetone acrylamide, DSM Exclusive Synthesis / Intermediates offers a total cross-linking system for i.e. water based acrylic emulsions. The system offers high performance, room temperature cross-linking, non-toxicity and is ideally suited for environmental friendly applications.

In addition to adipic acid dihydrazide the lower molecular weight analogue succinic acid dihydrazide (SDH) is developed. Succinic acid dihydrazide can be used in the same applications as adipic acid dihydrazide but shows a higher water-solubility than ADH.
