In which packaging varieties is TAS available?
TAS is packaged in various items: 25 kg bags, 50 kg bags and in 1000 kg big bags. Apart from DSM brand marked bags, a limited quantity is available in neutral bags. A few local customers buy ex-works in bulk containers.
-
Is TAS certified or has TAS other quality certificates?
DSM Fibre Intermediates is ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified. TAS is produced in a dedicated environment and is 100% synthetic. Therefore FDA approval, Kosher certificate or Halal certificate is not pursued.
-
Are there different grades available?
The common grade is the technical pure ammonium sulphate. Furthermore we have a anti caking grade and a fcc grade.
-
What are the most well known applications?
TAS is typically an intermediate to the pharmaceutical and food/feed industries. TAS is very well recognized as a partner in the fermentation processes. It provides nitrogen and sulfur in a readily available form and has an optimum pH value. See applications for further explanations.
-
What is the relation with Caprolactam?
Caprolactam, being the core product of DSM Fibre Intermediates has in its production process a side stream. This stream is used as an input in the ammonium sulphate plant at the Geleen site. Here we crystallize this fluid, we centrifuge, we dry and cool the product until TAS granulate is generated. TAS is produced in a dedicated environment, isolated from standard ammonium sulphate production. In a dedicated silo, TAS is temporarily stored before it is taken to the packaging process.
-
What is the difference with fertilizer (standard ammonium sulphate)?
DSM Agro commercializes the fertilizer grade. Standard AS has different product characteristics and different applications.
-
Does DSM sell TAS through the DSM Sales Office network or otherwise?
In almost all countries TAS is sold via a local agency or distributor. In France, Hungary and Turkey we are selling through our DSM Sales offices. See the TAS agents page for your local partner.
-
What is the shelf life of TAS?
If well stored under dry conditions, the water content will remain within specifications for a period of approximately 6 months. As storage and transport conditions are not the responsibility of DSM, we don't guarantee a shelf life. Click here for documentation.
