With the recent implementation of the new Food Safety Law in China, DSM
intents to assist Chinese manufacturers, to comply with these new regulations
with its Quality for Life™[1] commitment to its portfolio of food ingredients.
This is to further enhance the confidence of customers in China that DSM’s
ingredients and premixes will enable them to fulfill the more stringent safety
standards with regards to permitable ingredients in food production.
Quality for Life reflects DSM’s commitment to product safety and quality. It
is a unique seal of excellence, designed to give customers the reassurance
that the ingredients they buy have been manufactured to the highest quality,
using optimum safety standards and sustainable practices. As an integrated
supplier, DSM can provide this reassurance and full traceability throughout
its supply chain – from product conception, raw material supply through
manufacture to quality control, product distribution and after-sales service.
Weiming, Jiang, President DSM China, commented: “The Chinese authorities have
reacted to recent events in the region with the introduction of a new legal
framework designed to raise the bar for safety standards. Manufacturers are
faced with tougher standards, close supervision and strict recall systems. In
this arena, DSM’s Quality for Life becomes an invaluable and integral support
for customers. It provides a tangible certification of our commitment to
global quality, and assures customers the same ingredient quality and safety
standards, wherever they are in the world.”
Introduced in November 2008, Quality for Life is applied to DSM’s complete
portfolio of health and nutritional ingredients. The Quality for Life logo is
designed to convey DSM’s values of quality and sustainability. Further

In January 2009 DSM organized the International Dairy Safety Forum in Beijing,
together with China's major Dairy companies and members from the Dairy
industry including regulators. The aim of this forum was to improve safety in
the dairy industry of China. This one-day forum brought together high-level
representatives of the Chinese dairy industry, dairy associations and
government authorities, such as the health department. On the forum’s agenda
were issues as the establishment of a safe milk source system, and
safeguarding of product quality to regain consumer trust.
