Delvocid® Simple and effective product protection
Delvocid® is an antimycotic with natamycin as active compound. Pure natamycin
has no colour, odour or taste and is effective in very small quantities
against moulds and yeasts. Delvocid® is not active against bacteria or other
microorganisms and will therefore not interfere with natural ripening
processes. DSM has recently developed and patented improved formulations of
Delvocid®:

Delvocid®+ is an aqueous suspension of natamycin. Delvocid®+
offers an extremely low sedimentation rate compared to standard natamycin. So,
in liquid food applications as well as in liquid spray and dipping solutions,
natamycin is easily kept in suspension. While standard natamycin settles,
Delvocid®+ is active where natamycin activity is required. What’s more,
Delvocid®+ delivers fast solubility compared to standard natamycin which
dissolves slowly when applied. In food applications, the required natamycin
concentration can be reached more quickly with Delvocid®+. As Delvocid®+ is
applied when protection is required, the quicker the solubility the more
effective the protection will be.

Delvocid® Dip is a natamycin powder formulation to prepare dipping
suspensions for the surface treatment of cheese. Delvocid® Dip improves the
distribution of natamycin in the dipping bath as well as the adhesion of the
suspension to the whole cheese surface and thus results in significantly
better mould protection.

Delvocid® XT1 is a natamycin powder formulation to prepare dip and
spray suspensions for the surface treatment of cheese blocks and shredded
cheese. Delvocid® XT1 improves the distribution of natamycin in the suspension
as well as the adhesion of the suspension to the whole cheese surface. This
results in significantly better protection against yeast and mould.
