DSM Licensing and Clariant Masterbatches (Deutschland) GmbH have recently
signed a Joint Development Agreement for ALLINCO®. The agreement has been put
in place to expand the collaboration between Clariant and DSM in the field of
linear chain extenders and Hydrolytic stabilizers. The aim of the
collaboration is the application of ALLINCO® materials in masterbatches for
polyamide and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) products.
Clariant is the one of the major manufacturers of master batches in the world.
Master batches are preprocessed polymer additives and pigments, usually in
high concentrations, inside a polymer matrix. The use of master batches
provides a pre-dispersed alternative to direct dosing of polymer additives. As
masterbatches are metered in an extrusion process, adding only small amounts
of the pre-dispersed concentrate is sufficient to impart its properties to the
final product with a close tolerance. Examples of final products are
engineering plastics and yarns for automotive and medical applications.
The ALLINCO® chain extension technology is a 'cradle-to-cradle' technology. It
allows plastics to be recycled without degradation, and it is not only
suitable for recycling but also for the upgrading of polymers.
This cooperation, which makes use of ALLINCO® technology, is expected to
provide new products and new markets for Clariant.
ALLINCO®
ALLINCO® technology is a linear chain extension
technology that has been developed by DSM. ALLINCO® represents a family of
products which find use predominantly in the field of polyamides and
polyesters. More information on the ALLINCO® technology is available on the
ALLINCO® website.
Clariant
Clariant Masterbatches products are marketed under the
following brand global names: REMAFIN® olefinic masterbatches and compounds;
RENOL® Masterbatches and compounds based upon engineering resins, styrenics
and PVC; CESA® additive masterbatches; HYDROCEROL® chemical foaming and
nucleating agents; OMNICOLOR® universal color masterbatches. These brands are
registered trademarks of Clariant.
