Established as a separate business unit in 2005, DSM Medical Coatings is a new supplier of coatings for use in medical devices, drawing upon DSM's proven performance in coatings. DSM Desotech is the world's No. 1 supplier of photocurable coatings for optical fiber materials and has over 140 US patents in photocurable technology, and additional patents in Europe, Asia, Australia and Canada. DSM Medical Coatings is rapidly building its own industry-specific IP portfolio.

Active in the biomedical materials market since 1999, DSM has a well-deserved reputation as a reliable and reputable partner and supplier to the medical device industry, with renowned, high-performance products such as Dyneema®Purity and Solupor® . DSM is also very active in developing new applications for polymers within the medical device and pharmaceutical markets.
