Melamine-formaldehyde (MF) resins are used to provide wet-strength properties
to specialty papers, such as banknotes, maps and wallpaper.
Melamine-based resins increase resistance to wear, thus extending the life of
paper and textile. That’s why melamine-based banknotes, like the euro, can be
wrinkled and folded endlessly and still look good.
Popular wrinkle-free clothing materials (such as used in men’s pants and
travel wear) are possible thanks to the use of MF-resin coated textiles.
