The unique character of sCOOLlab
Children can easily be
introduced to and interact with science by way of real “sCOOL-laboratories”,
and as seeing is believing, the material becomes firmly anchored in their
memories. The distinction of sCOOLlab is that they are available at school and
can be used in existing lessons.
Children who look at the world around them with wonder
Making
that possible had been the dream of a group of DSM co-workers. In 2002 a
science chest was designed, specially for groups 7 and 8, in answer to this
dream.
With the use of a variety of interesting and exciting
experiments, children are given the opportunity to naturally discover how much
fun science and chemistry can be. They learn to look at the world around them
with new eyes and again to wonder about that which appears to be so obvious.
At this moment 450 sCOOLlabs are being set up in elementary schools throughout
the Netherlands.
A lasting learning resource
The science chest is a
pedagogically responsible way to introduce children to science in a natural
and interactive manner.
SCOOLlab contains 30 experiments covering 5
topics: Nature and the environment, Synthetics, Nutrition, Health and personal
welfare, Surprising experiments
