DSM Human Nutrition Award 2005

DSM is pleased to announce its 2nd DSM Human Nutrition Award. DSM Nutritional Products has a longstanding tradition and commitment in research activities investigating the benefit of nutritional products on human health. In particular, DSM Nutritional Products has an interest in identifying naturally occurring bioactive compounds which contribute to the wellbeing and reduce the risk of chronic disease. DSM Nutritional Products is striving to provide nutritional solutions to promote wellbeing.

Scope: The award will be given to scientists in recognition of their innovative research in the field of human nutrition, with special emphasis on naturally occurring dietary bioactive compounds which promote human health. The award has the goal to encourage and recognize excellence in research that significantly broadens the understanding of the role of nutrition in human health.

Award: The value of the award is a total of EUR 25,000 and is granted every two years.

Submission: Candidates should provide an abstract and a detailed description of the research accomplishment. The submission should highlight the importance of the contribution to human nutrition, and include recently published peer-reviewed papers supporting the research. A curriculum vitae and supporting letter(s) from recognized scientists in the field are required. The submission, either as a printed copy (in duplicate) or in electronic form (by e-mail or on CD-ROM; preferably MS Word format), should be sent to the following:

The closing date: 31 May 2005.

An international scientific advisory board will review the submission. The award will be presented at the 18th International Congress of Nutrition in Durban, South Africa, 19–23 September 2005. Recipients must be present to accept the award and present a paper on their research achievements.
