Eye health

A prerequisite for life quality in the 21st  century

The human eye
"Vision is the dominant sense of man, but without eye health the advantages of the 21st century cannot be realized."
Clay E. Reilly, PhD

Summary
In no time in history has eye health become so important in daily life. Vision plays a greater role than ever before in the active, mobile, society of today. Work concentrates on the use of telecommunication technology, while information is prepared or received by computers, all of which demand excellent sight. Eye health is the prerequisite for most daily activities, and the maintenance of good vision  the dominant sense of man has become an integral part of life quality in the 21st century. For these reasons, eye health is now a major concern of many people throughout the world. In Western countries, the two most prevalent chronic eye diseases are age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and age-related cataracts. The direct and indirect costs caused by these debilitating eye diseases are enormously high.

Increasing scientific evidence is now available demonstrating that lutein and zeaxanthin may be important for maintaining healthy eye.
