Asthaxanthin is an important element of the feed chain of wild and farmed
salmon and shrimp. Aquatic animals cannot synthesize astaxanthin, and
therefore it must be added to the diet.
Astaxanthin has been shown to have other biological and nutritional functions,
linked to its ability to act as a powerful antioxidant.
